Contents of AKT-4 Tablets kit 

AKT-4 kit is an anti-tuberculosis drug containing:  Rifampicin (1 cap) 450 mg, Pyrazinamide (2 tabs) 750 mg, Ethambutol (1 tab) 800 mg, Isoniazid 300 mg.

Side Effects of AKT-4 Tablets

Common side effects are drug induced gastritis presenting with nausea, vomiting
 .
The individual drug side effects are:

1) Isoniazide: hepatocellular jaundice, peripheral neuropathy  in bilateral foot,skin rashes.
2) Rifampicin: Jaundice, Flu like syndrome, rashes, decreased platelet count, orange coloured urine.
3) Ethambutol: retrobulbar optic neurits i.e vision problem.
4) Pyrazinamide: jaundice, hyperuricemia so can precipitate gout.

Pyridoxine (vit B6) 10 mg supplementation is required along with INH(isoniazid) for reducing side effects.You should be aware that rifampicin may change your urine colour to orange and is nothing to worry about.Visual functions should be tested before starting therapy or immediately thereafter LFTs (liver function tests) and uric acid levels should be monitored periodically  every 8 weeks or so. Medicines must be taken regularly. 

There will be no long lasting side effects. Once treatment is over (lasting from 6 months to 9 months ), the patient will be absolutely fine and normal in every respect.If your felling stomach upset take PAN -D 40 mg tablet half an hour before food.These side effects are temporary and after treatment will become alright.

Dosage and Administration of AKT-4 Tablets

The rifampicin capsule should be taken empty stomach and the rest of the tablets together after breakfast every day.
